Body of Christ
The Body of Christ is composed of believers everywhere - "Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ?" - 1 Cor 6:15
Here at The Berean Lamp, we endeavor to be an expression of the Body of Christ. The content produced on this website is generated entirely from the congregation of the Berean Christian Fellowship and Believers across the country, giving fellow believers and the world alike a picture of how the Apostle Paul described the early church when he wrote:
“For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Having gifts that differ according to the grace given us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, fervent with the Spirit; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.” – Romans 12:3-8
Here Paul gives us a picture of the Church as the Body of Christ with all it’s unique members exercising the spiritual gifts given them by God for ministry and the mutual encouragement of the body. We believe that this equips the saints for the ministry of the gospel and helps each of us grow deeper in Christ, our Head. As Paul further elaborates in Ephesians:
“And (God) gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of the ministry, for building up the Body of Christ, until we all attain the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself in love.” – Ephesians 4:11-16
With these foundational scriptures in mind, we pray that you will find something here to challenge and encourage you in your daily walk and that you in turn will contribute by sharing the spiritual gifts God has given you for the ministry of the Saints. We urge you to search the scriptures in prayer to hear the Lord's call on your life. Our hope is that His light in you would shine in this darkening world through your spiritual gifts, preparing yourself and the Body of Christ everywhere for His return.
