Having a willing spirit is not enough to face the darkness and evil in this world. No matter how determined we are to stand against evil, it is not enough. We must learn to know our own flesh and see it for what it is. Once we do, we will never again trust it.
In the beginning God said...and there was. In the end, also, it is God Who “says.” It is God Who has the final say.
I don’t always like the pain it brings me, but I trust that He will get me through the pain, and life will be at the other end.
How remarkable to think God clothes Himself with us when we become His children! We know in His Word, in many places, how God clothes the sinner. Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden. Right away they saw that they were not clothed. They were naked. But God made skins out of the sacrifice of an innocent animal and clothed them Himself. When we see our own sin in God’s light, we also see how naked we are before Him, as our guilt is completely exposed.
GOOD NEWS—it tends to bring joy to our hearts when we hear it. Good news cheers the heart and lifts the spirit: “Anxiety in a man's heart weighs him down, but a good word makes him glad” (Proverbs 12:25 ESV). Yet sometimes, even good news can be tainted by doubts and fears and threats from outside – fears that it won’t last or that it can be changed. Yet there is the GOOD NEWS of the Gospel that is truly good and truly lasting, which nothing on earth can destroy – so much so that it is almost seemingly “too good to be true” and too hard for us to grasp.
What is truth? Just like Pilate, many today are asking that question. Oprah Winfrey, at the 75th Annual Golden Globes, stated, “Speaking ‘your truth’ is the most powerful tool we have.” These days everyone has their own “truth,” which has completely redefined what the word means. In fact it has turned the word “truth” into a lie.
The Word of God is powerful and able to fully work in us what He says He will do. It is the power of God that performs in us the new life, when we believe in Him as our Savior, making us a new creation in Christ Jesus. It is not our performance or works that saves us.
There is something inside every human being that draws us to God and makes us want to reach out to Him to know Him. The ultimate thing in life is to truly know God. God gave us the gift of prayer in order that we may inquire of Him and learn to know Him and to reach out and find Him. Some, instead of reaching out to find Him, create their own religions or their own gods.
In the family there are different relationships where we form bonds, learn to love, learn to bear with another, learn to forgive, and learn many things about our relationship with God as His children. God shows us His love for us in many ways. He is the author of relationships and family. He gave us family for a purpose.
