In this life, we have many choices. One of the most important choices we have to make is whether or not to remain faithful to those who have been faithful and steadfast to us. I have chosen to be faithful. No one has been more faithful to me than Jesus. I remain a Christian because of what Christ did for me on the cross and the Hope of His everlasting life that He has given me.
In the midnight hours of the world, false lights are emerging from the shadows to lead people astray. Increasing numbers of believers are lured off the Way into the crooked paths of spiritual night by these phantom lamp-bearers. These false lights are the apostles, teachers, and prophets of the apostate church. Conspiring to deceive believers, their teachings and influence are not from God, but are energized by all that is worldly, ungodly, and wicked. They disguise themselves as followers of Jesus, who is “The true light, which gives light to everyone,” - John 1:9, and lead people away from truth into deeper spiritual darkness. This is nothing new.
In the darkening world around us, the small lights of each believer, young and old, strong and weak, will shine more brightly to the unaccustomed eyes of the world. The old divides we once thought were political, social, and economic (and all that seemed but shades of grey) may become more clearly the intrinsic divides they truly are between Christ and the god of this world – between light and darkness.
Everyone has a birthday. Believers and unbelievers alike celebrate their first birthday, but only believers celebrate three birthdays in their lifetime. Each birthday a believer celebrates is more precious and more life-changing than the last. Each one is known before time and designed by our Heavenly Father.
Alzheimer’s is a terrible disease. It takes away a loved one little by little and brings out the frailty of this life. You grieve several deaths of that loved one, as they slowly deteriorate from one stage to another. This is the story of how God worked in my own heart and caused His seed of love to grow as I struggled with my mother-in-law’s deteriorating Alzheimer’s. I learned first-hand how we truly are but dust and fade away from this life. Yet, we are precious to the Lord and never fade away from His steadfast love.
"Many times in my life, I have desired to know the Lord’s will for me, and sometimes I get anxious when He tarries in telling me. For me, I want to know it now, so I can pursue certain things or put an end to other things. However, the Lord has been recently laying on my heart the importance of waiting on Him..."
"For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes..." - Romans 1:16
"Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me." - Rev 3:20
"We live in dark times, surrounded by lies and deceptions. As children of light, how do we escape deception? God warns us in Ephesians that we are to “let no man deceive us with vain words.” When I read that verse I think, 'What a responsibility God has given us!'"
